This month's spotlight features Burlington FFA. This year, Burlington FFA students played an important role in advocating for wheat to become Oklahoma’s official state crop. The legislation passed unanimously through both the Oklahoma Senate and House of Representatives. Mrs. Addison Jenlink and several members of the FFA officer team had the opportunity to attend the ceremonial signing with Governor Kevin Stitt on August 11th.
Burlington FFA was also recently recognized with a 3-Star National FFA Chapter Award, highlighting the chapter’s work in growing leaders, strengthening agricultural education, and serving the community.
Burlington FFA students are also finding creative ways to share agriculture with younger students and families. The chapter provided a program for the school library’s summer reading program, “Barnyard Basics,” introducing local children to agriculture and helping them learn more about where their food, animals, and agricultural products come from.
From advocating for agriculture at the State Capitol to teaching local children about the importance of farming and ranching, Burlington FFA continues to demonstrate what agricultural education is all about: developing leaders, serving others, and making a difference.
